Brenda Maddox is a writer and journalist who lives in London. She has achieved an international reputation for her work in communications policy, as well as for her books, which include Beyond Babel: New Directions in Communications, The Half-Parent (a study of step-families), Who's Afraid of Elizabeth Taylor?, George's Ghosts: The Secret Life of W.B. Yeats, Married Man: The Life of D.H. Lawrence and Nora. As a journalist she has written extensively on women and marriage, and also, when Home Affairs editor of the Economist, on Ireland.
