Ivan March is a former professional musician. He studied at Trinity College of
Music, London, and at the Royal Manchester College. After service in the Central Band of the
RAF, he played the horn professionally for the BBC and travelled with the Carl Rosa and D'Oyly
Carte opera companies. He is a well-known lecturer, journalist and personality in the world of
recorded music and acts as consultant to Squires Gate Music Ltd, an international mail order
source for classical CDs (www.lprl.demon.co.uk). As a journalist he contributes to a number of
record reviewing magazines, including Gramophone, where he deals particularly with important
reissues.
